Happy Monday, dear friends:
Autumn is our favorite time of year and Epilepsy Acceptance( or Awareness) Month is two months away. What plans do you have to show your support and celebrate epilepsy community? If you lack ideas, be sure to visit our page's Brainiversary Ideas section. Don't have a Brainiversary yet? No worries, you can still join in the festivities and highlight epilepsy life by checking out the What If I Don't Have A Brainiversary? page.
Epilepsy Awareness Month is in November. Here at Purplicious, we want to move towards Acceptance and creating a more belonging space. Inclusion is great, but in order to make spaces accessible for all, we must address the ongoing stigmas, stereotypes, barriers, and fears still prevalent in our culture. Not sure where to start? Look no further than our Epilepsy Resources page. You can look at the epilepsy facts and find a starting point. Look for local support groups and join an online epilepsy group if you get stuck or need some motivation.
We can't emphasize enough how much your support means to us. Your support is more than cute photo ops and the once a year, invite when it's convenient. We cannot thank you enough for taking time to show how much you care.
Speaking from experience, if you as an advocate find yourself burning out from platforming about your disability, please take time to step away and refresh. No one should ever crash and burn, feeling the burden of having to perform their task of advocating all the time.
We hope you all take care and have a seizure-free day.
